Lutetia building
São Paulo, Brazil
Deadline: 15 August 2018
Brazilian artists who live outside the State of São Paulo, and foreign artists, have until the 15th of August 2018 to participate in the selection process for the residency programme taking place in the first half of 2019 at Edifício Lutetia, the venue where Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) has run its Artist-in-Residency Programme for the past twelve years.
The programme’s main aim is to serve as a temporary residency for visual artists who are seeking to research and develop a project in the city of São Paulo, working in an environment that has secured its place as one of th most prevalent schemes to offer support and incentive to the development of creative processes, particularly in the field of art. To date, more than 350 artists from every continent have gone through the FAAP Artist Residency programme.
Artists who are interested in participating in the selection process must submit their proposal for a project to be developed in São Paulo, as well as support documentation including reference letters, CV, 3×4 photo, portfolio and application form available online with all required information.
The FAAP Artist Residency programme is aimed at promoting the interaction between artists and our students and lecturers as well as the wider São Paulo community. Incorporating artists in the research and discussions promoted by FAAP’s Visual Arts Courses is an effective way to exchange experiences between the residents and FAAP’s community.
The process of academic integration is also materialised through a wide range of activities including lectures, talks, workshops, follow-ups, open studios and, most importantly, the participation of each selected artist in the Contemporary Investigation Seminars I and II hosted by the institution’s Visual Arts Courses. There are also other insertion activities, such as visits and meetings with professionals and other institutions in the field.
More information about the required documentation for the selection process is available online and can also be obtained by phone +55 (11) 3101-1776, e-mail resartisfaap.info@faap.br or Skype: residencia.artistica.faap.
