Jonathas de Andrade (Maceió, 1982) graduated with a degree in Social Communications from the Federal University of Pernambuco. He works with installation, video, and photography, reflecting on social issues, such as power dynamics, racism, work, modernity, and community life.
He has had various individual exhibitions, including, O Peixe (The Fish), New Museum, New York (2017); Convocatória para um Mobiliário Brasileiro (Open Call for Brazilian Furniture), Museum of Art São Paulo – Masp (2016); and 4000 disparos (4000 Shots), Museum of Contemporary Art, Montréal (2013). The various collectives he has been invited to include: the 32nd São Paulo Biennial (2016) and the 29th São Paulo Biennial (2010); 7th Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre (2009); 2nd New Museum Triennial, NY (2012); Sharjah Biennial 13, Tamawuj (2017).
