Sabino Guisu, Explosión Textil, 2019.
Fuego Negro solo show by Oaxacan artist Sabino Guisu (Juchitán, Oaxaca, 1986) offers a vision where the primordial and original ancient cultures of México fuse with the present, establishing a critique of the contemporary man that faces modernity without a memory of the past. The symbolic force of this message permeates the work, transiting from light installations to pieces full of craftmanship that reflect a past of imagination and ritual. The result is a body of work that can be attributed to Sabino Guisu’s last decade of creation. His need to preserve a series of vanishing languages, ecological concerns, and his innovative modifications of national history, are suberbly expressed in his works.
