From flight to nostrils, breathe, arms wide, messages in the wind references the title of the first HOA exhibition, held at SP-Arte Online during the COVID-19 pandemic. The show, which marks the gallery’s three-year anniversary and the opening of its new space in downtown São Paulo, is curated by Guilherme Teixeira and Nathalia Grilo. The works on display seek to express a decolonial perspective on the contemporary art that pervades identitarianism, to discuss possibilities of existence, in addition to constructing a way of looking at culture in the local surroundings.
In addition to hosting exhibitions, the new gallery also intends to become a stage for various contemporary art programs such as performances, meetings, courses, seminars, publication launch events and cultural activities focused on the work of racialized artists and/or artists who are part of the LGBTQIA+ communities, from a decolonial perspective.
