Born in Trinidad, Cuba in 1970. Graduated from Superior Institute of Art in 1994, member of the Cuban art collective “The Carpenters”. In 2003 he began his solo art career.
Alexandre’s work is characterized by the exploration of topics such as the concept of power and control as well as the relation between the private and the public. Monumental projects like NOLIMITS (2013) and Katrina Chairs have gained him important international recognition.
Among Alexandre’s personal exhibitions are The Map of Silence in the MNBA (Cuba, 2015), The Map and the Fact at Magnan Metz Gallery (NY, 2014) and Changing the Rules at SCAD (Savannah, 2010). His work is also part of the collections of the MoMA, LACMA, Reina Sofia Museum among others.
