Coletivo Coletores

Flávio Camargo and Toni Baptiste, artists from the east side of the city of São Paulo, studied Visual Arts and became art teachers for children and teenagers in the public school system. Both have graduate degrees in Design and Humanities from the University of São Paulo’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning. While still at university, they formed the Coletivo Coletores (Collectors Collective), a collective which navigates across various media such as graffiti, installation, photography, game art, video projections, audiovisual and print publications. The urban intervention processes proposed by Collectors are based on concepts such as art and gaming, social design, cyber art, relational art and total art. In addition to appearing at events related to technology, art, and urban planning, such as SPURBAN, FILE, FONLAD Portugal, the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial, the Dakar Biennial of Contemporary Art, the collective also creates and presents its art in the peripheries, squats, and favelas of Brazil’s major cities. The artists have continued with their teaching vocation through workshops and their work with other artists and cultural collectives.
