Born in Caratinga, Minas Gerais in 1979. She lives and works between Vitória (Espírito Santo) and London. Master’s in Institutional Psychology, Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), 2011. She graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from UFES, 2004. Her work includes performance, installation, video, drawing, collage, film and literature. Rubiane Maia presented the solo show À primeira vista: uma maçã e duas cadeiras, Sesc Vila Mariana, São Paulo, 2016, and has participated in collective exhibitions such as: Das virgens em Cardumes e da Cor das Auras, Museu Bispo do Rosário, Rio de Janeiro, 2016; Passe/Impasse, Blueproject Foundation, Barcelona, Spain, 2016; Terra Comunal – Marina Abramovich + MAI, Sesc Pompéia, São Paulo, 2015; 9th Kaunas Biennial UNITEXT, National Museum of M. K. Ciurlionis, Kaunas, Lithuania, 2013. Themes like existential territory that bring together notions of space, time, society, sensitive and everyday activism appear in works such as: Baile, 2015, or Janela temporária: à luz das sombras, 2016.
