The Caribbean Cultural Institute (CCI) Fellowship program fosters art projects and research that advance Caribbean art and scholarship. Through a series of research and artistic fellowships, the initiative cultivates new ideas that challenge traditional conceptions of Caribbean art, generates innovative study on the region, and reflects upon the contemporary state of Caribbean art and thought. This program is for artists, cultural practitioners, and scholars from the Caribbean and the Caribbean diaspora whose projects would benefit from access to PAMM’s institutional resources.
In 2022, the CCI will provide two fellowships: the CCI Artist Fellowship and the CCI Research Fellowship. Both programs will take place between October 2022 and February 2023. The Artist Fellowship invites an artist to live and work in Miami for up to two months, while the Research Fellowship provides an opportunity to research PAMM’s Caribbean Art Collection.
2022 CCI Artist Fellowship
This fellowship is open to emerging to mid-career Caribbean artists and cultural practitioners, as well as those working across disciplines and media, who are based in Miami, the Caribbean region, or living in the diaspora. This is an opportunity for the development of artistic practice via studio work, institutional collaborations, and/or public programs. The CCI will provide institutional support as well as access to PAMM’s curatorial resources and networks. The Artist Fellow will be provided with a studio in Miami for up to two months, as well as a stipend, production funds, and accommodation, if needed.
2022 CCI Research Fellowship
This fellowship is open to Caribbean emerging to mid-career researchers, scholars, or curators based in Miami, the Caribbean region, or its diaspora. The Fellow will develop their own research, and engage with PAMM’s Caribbean art collection. CCI will support object-based research into PAMM’s Caribbean art collection in order to further scholarship on the visual arts of the region and share the collection with broader audiences. The Fellow will produce a text that will be published on the CCI website.
Please see an overview of the application material for both fellowships here.
The CCI Fellowship program is open to international and national Caribbean artists, cultural practitioners, curators, researchers, and scholars. Please note that the Museum cannot provide visas, nor can it sponsor international applicants. All international participants in the program must secure their own visas prior to commencing the fellowship.
The deadline for application submission is June 14, 2022, 11:59pm (EST).
