Harvested timber found in dumpsters, log prunings, branches and leaves from fallen trees, deconstructed fencing and native plants make up the living compositions by artist Rodrigo Bueno. At Ateliê Mata Adentro (‘Jungle Inside’), a warehouse located in the São Paulo’s Lapa neighborhood, Bueno produces paintings, installations, sculptures and furniture that evoke the ancestry of the forest, the rivers and the indigenous and quilombola lands that populated the city in the past. The concept was born during an exhibition when he lived in the neighborhood of Sumaré. In 2010, he moved to Lapa and transformed the warehouse into a habitable space, through the repurposing and recycling of materials. The studio is open to the public by appointment and for occasional meetings and workshops, such as percussion lessons and discussion groups.
