Despacio

The independent art space located in San José, Costa Rica was founded by the artist Federico Herrero with the simple premise that there is something positive to be gained by local and international artists speaking to one another.

Suspended above the chaotic atmosphere of the city, Despacio highlights individual explorations of the temporary, the absent, the forgotten, the mis- or dis-translated, the transience of things.

Despacio is advised by Jens Hoffmann (Deputy Director Jewish Museum, New York and MOCAD Senior Curator, Detroit), Pablo León de la Barra (Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator, New York), Sagrario Perez Soto (Collector, San José), and Judko Rosenstock (Collector, San José).
