Judithe Hernández, The Birth of Eve / El nacimiento de Eva, 2010. (The Adam & Eve Series)
Judithe Hernández is a founding figure of Los Angeles muralism, who, after many years as an exhibiting artist in Chicago, maintains a prolific studio and public art practice in L.A. This exhibition presents recent pastels on paper by Hernández, including the recent acquisition Les Demoiselles d’Barrio (2013), a feminist interpretation of Picasso’s Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907). Hernández’s work can be found in important museums and collections across the U.S. This will mark the first solo exhibition of a Chicana artist at MOLAA.
